Bastion Defender
Fugari Bastion Defender — Home World Defense Class

Role
Orbital defense. The endgame wall.
The Bastion Defender is the Fugari's heaviest hull — a stationary orbital platform anchored in high orbit above the Fugari home planet in the deepest Coreward node of the galaxy. It does not pursue. It does not raid. It holds position and replenishes.
Every pilot who has reached the Warship tier and is thinking about the cycle's win condition will eventually have to get past this.

Threat Vector
Attrition. The Bastion Defender is not something you fight once. It is something you fight every reset until it breaks.
When encountered as a patrol ship away from Kethara Prime, the Bastion Defender engages with standard wave combat — strikers and guardians both active. It is the most dangerous individual Fugari hull in the field.
At the home planet, the Bastion Defender is the outer drone screen layer — the reset-by-reset garrison that must be ground down before post-garrison combat can begin.
Kethara Prime — Dynamic Defense Scaling
Kethara Prime's defense strength is not fixed. It scales dynamically with player progress across the galaxy:
Formula: max(citadel_1_floor, top_3_player_planet_median)
This means the home planet's defenses grow with the galaxy's strongest player planets. Early in a cycle when player development is modest, the floor is low and the planet is more accessible. Late in a cycle, when the three most-developed player planets have reached tier-3+ citadel strength, Kethara Prime scales proportionally.
The endgame scales with how developed the galaxy is. A coalition that has invested heavily in planet development will face a proportionally stronger home planet — which is also why timing the assault matters. Push before the galaxy's top players have maxed their planets, and you fight a weaker bastion.
The Three-Phase Assault
Assaulting Kethara Prime follows the same 3-phase wave combat sequence used against player planets:
Phase 1 — Clear the node Any Fugari ships at the home node must be dealt with before the planet itself can be engaged. This phase can be dense late in a cycle if multiple T3 and T4 ships are stationed there.
Phase 2 — Garrison combat The outer drone screen — the Bastion Defender layer — is the reset-by-reset grind. Sustained wave combat is required to deplete it. FCS determines how fast it replenishes between assault sessions. At Dominant or Cohesive FCS, it refills completely every reset. At Fractured or Expedition, you are fighting 20–30% of what was there last reset.
Phase 3 — Post-garrison Once the garrison is broken, post-garrison wave combat begins against the planet itself. At FCS 3 or 4, the orbital canon is active — it fires each wave, dealing direct hull damage that bypasses guardians. Winning post-garrison combat claims Kethara Prime and ends the cycle immediately.
FCS-Dependent Defense Capacity
The FCS band determines how fast the drone screen replenishes between assault sessions. This is the primary variable that makes the Expedition window so valuable.
| FCS Band | Band Value | Drone Replenish | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dominant | 4 | 100% | Active |
| Cohesive | 3 | 100% | Active |
| Strained | 2 | 60% | Inactive |
| Fractured | 1 | 30% | Inactive |
| Expedition | 0 | 20% | Inactive |
Fighting the Bastion Defender at Dominant FCS is a war of attrition you are unlikely to win before the cycle ends. Fighting it during a Fractured or Expedition window is a fundamentally different engagement.
Reading the Window
The Realm Report never states the FCS score directly. It narrates it:
- Dominant: "The Fugari bastion is silent in the way that fortresses are silent — watchful, complete, unmovable."
- Strained: "Fugari patrols have thinned near the outer nodes. Whether by choice or necessity is unclear."
- Fractured: "Two Fugari convoys clashed near Node 34. Something is wrong inside the bastion."
- Expedition: "The main Fugari fleet has left. The bastion runs on a skeleton crew."
By the third or fourth reset of a cycle, experienced players have a hypothesis about the FCS band. By the eighth or ninth, it is usually confirmed. Learning to read these signals is how coalitions know when to commit.
Assault Coordination
No solo pilot takes the Fugari home planet. The Bastion Defender is designed to require coalition action. Warships and Leviathans coordinating drone commitment, timed assault waves, and sustained pressure across multiple resets.
The killing blow — winning post-garrison combat after the garrison has been depleted — claims Kethara Prime and earns the cycle's defining title. The pilot who claims the planet earns "Destroyer of Cycle N," permanently attached to their callsign.
The Bastion Defender is the last obstacle before that moment.
